Man falls from restraint on Lightwater Valley’s Black Pearl

A man in his 50’s has fallen out of his seat on the Black Pearl ride at Lightwater Valley in Ripon, North Yorkshire.

Eyewitnesses claim that the man’s lap bar suddenly released when the ride was upside down, 85ft in the air. The man, who reportedly has learning difficulties, fell on to the metal cage which surrounds the gondola and hit other riders before he was grabbed by his carer, Paul Marshall, who was sat next to him on the attraction.

Black Pearl, a Weber “Dreamboat”, arrived at Lightwater Valley in 2011 from the now defunct Scottish theme park, Loudoun Castle.
