Merlin Annual Pass Holders are putting pressure on Merlin to “show some compassion” to a mother who could not use her pass when her newborn baby suddenly needed a liver transplant.
Dee Jacqueline Lothian described on Facebook how she gave birth in April and bought Merlin Annual Passes in May – only for her daughter Tiffany to fall suddenly ill and require surgery at just six weeks. Tiffany suffered with Prolonged Jaundice and required a liver transplant – which she received in November.
Dee recounted the story to Merlin, hoping they would offer to renew her passes as she has been unable to use them at all. Merlin offered to freeze the remaining time on her passes until a later date but said they would not renew them.
Now, other pass members are rallying behind the family: posting #RenewTheLothians and other messages to the Merlin Annual Pass Facebook page imploring the company to renew their passes in light of the extreme circumstances.
Merlin have been contacted for a comment.
