Alton Towers reopen rides after Smiler crash

Three other rides at the theme park have been closed since the incident on The Smiler earlier this month.

The crash led to the closure of the X Sector area to allow Health and Safety executives to carry out investigations on the site. The area closure prevented guests from being able to ride Oblivion and Enterprise, whilst nearby Sonic Spinball also remained closed due to new safety measures for multi-car roller coasters.

Despite the reopening of these rides, The Smiler still remains closed as investigations into how the accident unfolded occur. Elsewhere in the park, Nemesis: Sub Terra remains shut due to ‘design changes’ according to the resort.

At present, it is currently known if the Towers ruins have reopened. It is believed the structure was closed to guests to prevent guests from viewing the crash site in X Sector.
