The grand opening attracted thousands of guests, all keen to get their first opportunity to experience the 40% increase in land space of the popular children’s area.

Amongst the large crowds of excited guests was the Mayor of Tamworth himself, Councillor Richard Kingstone.

Mr Kingstone commented on social media: “Great fun this morning at the official opening of the new Thomas Land extension at Drayton Manor.”

“You must go.”

The expansion sees the opening of Sodor Airport, Flynn’s Fire Rescue, Toby’s Tramway Express and Captain’s Sea Adventure.

The response to the area has been hugely positive, with many guests taking to social media to bestow their praise upon the expansion and Drayton Manor:

In a press release, Colin Bryan, CEO of Drayton Manor stated: “Since its launch in 2008, Thomas Land™ has been hugely popular, attracting guests young and young at heart from all over Europe.”

“It is due to this popularity that we made the decision to expand the attraction and accommodate the increasing visitor numbers, which have surged year-on-year. We hope that this investment will delight visitors, offering even more Thomas & Friends™ themed fun. The atmosphere here today has been fantastic and we are all really excited about the season ahead.”
