Are Thorpe Park plotting I’m A Celeb attraction?
By Michael Mander
Speculation is rife after Thorpe Park posted four clues pointing towards the “new attraction for 2015”.
The clues, a series of Vine charades and a mysterious picture, have been posted across the resort’s social media.
While other suggestions have been made (including an attraction based on the viral satirical disaster film, Sharknado), the most prominent is an attraction based on the hugely popular TV series: ‘I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!’.
The top-rated British show first aired in 2002 and the latest series achieved a rating of 10.26 million.
It could be a safe bet for the park. It fits the target market and – unlike films and most TV series which tend to have a sell by date – the I’m A Celeb format has proved successful for thirteen years, and has been confirmed for three more.
Some have suggested this attraction could take the form of a flat ride – while others a new stage show. Indeed, original plans proposed an open air stage to be built next to Stealth in 2012 – these plans never went ahead but were not ruled out. Perhaps they are finally coming to fruition?
But, for now, this is nothing more than speculation. The theme remains a mystery. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
