Possible Monorail incident results in closure
It has been claimed that an incident yesterday has caused the instant closure of Alton Towers’ Monorail system.
The transportation ride which takes guests from the theme park’s car parks to the Entrance Plaza is currently shut, following reports across social networks that a mishappening took place yesterday afternoon.
One park guest posted about the incident yesterday, describing the scene on Twitter (names removed);
Leaving Alton towers on the monorail and it randomly stopped,everyone flew forward. ‘N’ flew in to ‘K’ and broke his nose on here face, oh
This was backed up by another user, who simply stated; “Just been in like a monorail crash at Alton towers“.
Furthermore, a guest posted a more detailed account onto the theme park’s official Facebook page;
Hi, I just wanted to leave a message for your staff! Me and my friends were a little injured yesterday on the monorail and every member of staff who came to help us was fantastic, they kept everyone calm and were very understanding and reassuring.The medical staff were outstanding too and clearly knew what they were doing! The driver of the monorail even came to see us in the Medical Centre at half 8 last night just to make sure we were okay! What a hero! Hope everyone else got away as relatively luckily as us. Thanks again.
Alton Towers have not released a statement regarding the incident as yet.
