The Swarm ahead of schedule to invade as track is completed

Thorpe Park’s upcoming 2012 addition The Swarm has been confirmed of being ahead of schedule in terms of construction, with the track now being fully completed.

The rollercoaster is the second of it’s type to be built in the world, and the first in the United Kingdom. Manufactured by Swiss company Bolliger & Mabillard, the Wingrider-style ride will provide on-the-edge seating that will allow guests to encounter a number of articulately calculated near misses with theming such as a crashed helicopter and a broken plane.

The track itself includes a number of inversions such as an inclined loop, a zero-g roll and a corkscrew – although the most landmark event of the experience will be the slow twist and half loop which takes place 127 feet  up at the highest point of the ride.

The Swarm is set to open at Thorpe Park in Spring 2012.
