Alton Towers have now been given the go ahead to start work on their new attraction for 2012, after their planning application was approved with conditions yesterday by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

Whilst the proposal is described as being a Building to house indoor ride, retail building, queue lines and associated hard / soft landscaping” on the planning application dating from 20th August 2011, it has since come to light that this is for a new attraction in the Forbidden Valley area of the park, and is to be associated with the popular Nemesis storyline.

Viral promotion has also commenced this week, with new radiation signage , audio and actors in protective radiation suits patrolling the border area which the Lava Lump climbing wall previously occupied.

Below is a video filmed by Airgates, showing the new construction wall signage and area audio.
Nemesis – What Lies Beneath is set to open in time for the beginning of the 2012 theme park season.
